Adequate bathroom ventilation is important to keep any home healthy and opening the window isn't always sufficient.
I was looking to replace the fans in a shower room and a bathroom and wanted something quiet and unobtrusive to do the job.You can buy a perfectly suitable branded (Manrose) timer fan for a little over £15 which will do the job and comply with Part F building regulations.
Fundamentally I needed to consider where it could be installed, how noisy is was and how much air it extracts. I am not a fan of flap vents but I want my bathroom to be warm so a closure of some kind was preferable. Finally if the fan could stay on after showering until all the moisture was taken out then that would be ideal. What I found, and am extremely pleased with, is the airflow iCON 30. The iCON 30 is a modular fan and can be used with a variety of control modules and covers. For me the white cover was perfect for ceiling mounting and the humidity control module meant it would stay on for as long as it was needed.
This is certainly more expensive than a more basic model but I have no regrets in my choice, I got mine from national lighting in Leeds.
